My stay at Easy Hotel London City- Wheelchair Accessible Hotel

Name: Easy Hotel London City

easy hotel london city

Description:

Do you dread queuing for long check- in’s or having to be ‘shown to your room’ Sometimes all you need after a busy day out in the city is to have a nice shower in a quiet wheelchair accessible hotel room and just jump right into bed. At the Easy Hotel they make quick check in’s possible.

Don’t get me wrong there are times I LOVE to chat but there are other times I’ll opt for places with self- check in such as Easy Hotel: I regularly visit London for hospital stays and these can be quite stressful, and I’m often poorly.

For the times you don’t want to be greeted by a well- meaning receptionist asking 21 questions about your trip, emergency evacuation procedures, if you’ve visited the area before and so on and so on. I find the Easy Hotel a perfect place to stay!

Location:

Easy Hotel

80 Old Street

London

What Three Words:

Local area:

With luggage storage options at just £5 per item and close by to both Brick Lane and Spitalfields Market I couldn’t recommend this stay more!

Easily accessible by both tube and bus and close to major tourist attractions including the London Eye, Buckingham Palace and St Paul’s Cathedral, this is a great budget friendly place to stay.

Easy hotel is also surrounded by lots of great accessible restaurants and is just a short walk to Old Street Tube Station

Download London’s avoiding stairs and wheelchair access maps to find alternative tube stations.

(be sure to regularly check with the stations for updates on lift closures).

Note

Old street tube station isn’t step free and is the closest station to Moorfields Eye Hospital and is particularly difficult for blind and visually impaired people to access.

Check In:

Check in is quick and easy.

What room I had:

This hotel has a choice of two styles of Accessible rooms on offer and I have fortunately stayed in both.

Details of Bedroom/ Bathroom:

Both accessible rooms are very spacious with room for my wheelchair to be stored in multiple places around the room without causing trip hazards in the night for my PA going to the loo!

The design of the room allowed for a modern, yet comfortable feel, the wall had a classic mural of London sites outlined above the bed which I particularly enjoyed. Sometimes accessible rooms miss these personalised features, so my PA and I both noted that it was nice to see it was still homely unlike a previous place we had visited. The bathroom had a clean feel whilst also not feeling too clinical.

I don’t know whether it was because I was so tired from such a busy day in London or the fact I was waking up in a dark room but the room without the window was probably one of the best night's sleep I’ve had in a long time!

There was something about being able to escape the hustle and bustle of the city by not having a window with the noise disturbing us.

Parking/useful to know:

There is Blue Badge Parking available to the side of the hotel around the back, however it could be useful to note both times we’ve stayed vans and lorries also use this area to load and unload goods and we have been blocked in not only on foot (or on wheel) but then also our vehicle too- so if you have somewhere to be at a particular time, I’d bare this in mind!

Overall:

A great budget-friendly hotel and totally faff free! There are multiple across the city but not all of them are accessible.
